How to Prepare a Condo Move in Vancouver
Elevators, loading bays, strata rules and practical condo-moving preparation.

A Vancouver condo move is usually an access project as much as a moving project. The elevator booking, loading route, common-area rules and timing need to work together before furniture or boxes leave the unit.
Start with strata or building management
Ask for the complete moving procedure in writing. Confirm service-elevator availability, permitted hours, deposits, insurance requirements, loading-bay rules and the contact person for moving day.
Share the confirmed window with the moving company before final scheduling. Never assume a passenger elevator or loading area will be available without a reservation.
Inspect the truck-to-unit route
Review truck access, parkade height, loading position, lobby doors, corridors, corners and elevator dimensions. Note stairs or long carries between the legal loading location and the unit.
Inspect the destination the same way. A straightforward origin does not cancel out a narrow entrance, distant elevator or restricted loading zone at the new building.
Prepare furniture and boxes
Finish the agreed packing scope before the booked elevator time. Label by destination room and separate items that should remain under personal control.
Measure oversized furniture against doors, hallways and elevator openings. Tell the team about pieces that may need disassembly and any fragile or heavy item requiring advance review.
Protect the building and schedule
Follow every stated rule for floor runners, door protection and elevator padding. Keep corridors clear and avoid placing boxes in fire routes or shared access areas.
Allow time for building check-in, key or fob pickup and elevator setup. If a fixed handover follows the move, build that deadline into the request rather than adding it on moving day.
Confirm the final plan
Send any change in inventory, parking, elevator time or access before the move. Make sure the mover has a working phone number for the person present at each property.
At the destination, direct room placement immediately so boxes do not accumulate in the lobby or block the path from elevator to unit.
